Handy Andy Stikes Again

After the coffeemaker fiasco, I thought things were resolved. I've been getting my morning latte and Andrew's no longer walking on egg shells. However, the melted cafetiera handle has been getting worse. Its ragged edges shred Andrew's thumb every morning when he screws the lid onto the bottom and again when he dismantles the contraption for cleaning. Running low on bandages and blood, Andrew devised a solution.

Well, you can't say he isn't ingenious. With a few inches of black electrical tape Andrew fixed the issue. Don't panic. He assures me the package says the tape is "flame resistant".

How comforting. So were the oven mitts.

OMFG!!!! This whole serial is hilarious. I had missed a few of the posts (probably due to Blogger having a hissy fit on one of my blog-reading nights) and was reduced to giggles, here in my office at way past midnight.
We're using a Bodum these days for coffee; not only are we drinking less, because we're enjoying it more becuase it's so damn good, we make just what we want (the model I bought holds about 2 and a bit of our large mugs). I stashed the other coffeemaker (also known as spawn of satan, because those thermal carafes just aren't!) under the cupboard (and now the black beauty kitchenaid resides in its place)
Glad Andrew is handy, though I dunno about the electrical tape. It's for electrical wiring, not stovetops. Better get another extinguisher, just in case!

We have an extinguisher nearby. I don't want to see the mess it makes, but it's better than cleaning up after a fire.

We have Bodums but they don't make espresso, which is my morning "must". They do make great coffee though.

We're on the hunt for a better designed cafetiera. Heading to Toronto later in the month and hope to score a foolproof version there. If not, I'm sure this serial could continue indefinitely - or at least until the fire department shows up.
