When I brought my new digital timer home, I showed it the remains of its predecessor. Bet that's the last time an LCD device allows the soup to boil dry in this house again.

Hmm. Reminds me of the digital thermometer I melted in the oven. But that was just a mishap.
Word to the wise: don't use a plastic thermometer to see if the oven is at the right temperature for bread dough to rise. Or... remember it's in there when you eventually turn the heat up to bake the bread.) -

I decided to swim laps yesterday and was determined to exercise for a full 30 minutes. So I brought out my handy dandy kitchen timer and set it to 30. Turned it on.
One lap, two laps, back and forth, I swam and swam without allowing myself to look at the timer. I wanted at least 20 minutes to have elapsed by the time I looked.
When I finally peeked, the damn thing was still stuck on 30! Damn timers!! -
